More casting news is coming in for HBO’s “True Blood” Season 5, this time in the fairy category, as newcomer Giles Matthey has landed the multi-episode role of Claude, a hot and mysterious British fairy. Per EW, Claude was previously played (briefly) by Neil Hopkins (“Lost”) on the show, but the powers-that-be have opted to recast the part with Matthey.

After the third season of True Blood I was pissed, and honestly, I didn’t even want to continue watching True Blood after that ridiculous mess. The storyline went absolutely nowhere, there wasn’t a solid plot to be found and there were far too many ridiculous side-stories that were totally pointless. It sucked bad enough that I had damn near sworn off True Blood.

Relax, fangbangers; HBO has closed a deal for “True Blood” Season 5 with showrunner Alan Ball, who says he and the show’s writers are already breaking stories for next year. Deadline reports that during today’s Television Critics Association “True Blood” panel, Ball, the series’ creator/executive producer, disclosed the fact that he has re-signed in response to a request to address speculation that Season 4 could be his last. ” I have no desire to leave, ” he said.

We’re in the home stretch as far as this behemoth of a show known as Comic-Con is concerned, and next on tap for you fangbangers out there are a few additional highlights from HBO’s “True Blood” panel. Showrunner Alan Ball promised that we haven’t seen the last of Claudette, Sookie’s fairy godmother, this season as according to the books on which the series is based, faeries are born in identical litters. In terms of the as of yet unconfirmed and unordered fifth season, Ball says that he and the producers are still researching storylines, but we will be seeing the back story of how Eric made Pam and that the male strip joint from the books, Hooligans, will play a part in the TV show.

Our main complaint about Season 3 of HBO’s “True Blood” was that there were too many extraneous characters. However, no one could accuse Russell Edgington, the Vampire King of Mississippi, of being extraneous in the least.

In what’s surely no surprise to anyone who is a fan of the series, the Season 3 premiere of Alan Ball’s “True Blood” towered over its cable competition last Sunday night with 5.1 million viewers, a 38 percent increase over the show’s Season 2 debut. Per TV by the Numbers its closest competition was the Disney Channel’s “Sonny with a Chance” at 3.6 million viewers.
