According to the blogosphere buzz, the role of Lincoln in the film adaptation of Seth Graham-Smith’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter will go to Benjamin Walker, star of Broadway’s now-defunct Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson .� Just a few weeks ago I blogged about my fascination with Walker’s unconventional musical in a piece titled History, Sexypants Style , so I’m curious to see what the actor will do when he fills Lincoln’s shoes—and, ahem, pants. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter uses the following quirky premise: “While Abraham Lincoln is widely lauded for saving a Union and freeing millions of slaves, his valiant fight against the forces of the undead has remained in the shadows for hundreds of years.” Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson turns an earlier U.S. President into an emo rock star.

Somehow, the soon-to-be released Vampires Suck slipped my notice when I originally compiled my current Upcoming Vampire Movies list. Thanks to Vampire News , I just came across the trailer, and seeing as though the vampire spoof contains references to Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland , I have to wonder if I didn’t catch Vampires Suck ‘s existence earlier because it was just made. In any case, it’s hitting theaters August 18, and it’s up to you to decide if it will become the Airplane of vampire films or another Transylmania .

Here’s another musical offering from Jordan Galland’s dark comedy Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Undead : The Rosen-dance Video. As explained at Undead News , “A DJ known as Dancelvania put a beat under [the character] Theo Horace’s dialogue where he teaches the vampire slave girls to turn humans into vampires.” I’ve been long awaiting this particular vampire film’s arrival at a theater near me, but, thankfully, they continue to provide Music Monday opportunities to keep me entertained in the meantime

Tim Burton talks (a little) about DARK SHADOWS

Who is the most horrific movie vampire?

I had a difficult time narrowing down who should appear on my most horrific vampire poll, and I decided to limit the list to movies to avoid confusion between the film and literary versions of characters. Sometimes, a vampire comes across as appalling in a book, but they’re toned down for their film adaptation, and vice versa (see Håkan from Let the Right One In ). Because there’s so much interest in the attractive side of vampires, there aren’t a whole lot of scariest vampire lists out there.

Here’s the latest news about the film adaptation of Darren Shan’s Cirque du Freak : According to Universal Picture’s postings on Twitter , the title will now be The Vampire’s Assistant and the release date has been bumped up from January 2010 to October 23, 2009. The new title is also the name of the second novel in the twelve-volume Cirque du Freak series–and I’m guessing the change was made to alert moviegoers that this is indeed another vampire offering. I’ve read in the past that the trailer will be made available in August, but perhaps it will now be ready sooner.

Underworld tops the latest poll

In my most recent poll, I asked, “What is the best pre-Twilight new-millennium vampire movie?” There were 432 responses, and Underworld took the lead with 33% of the votes. In my best of the 80s and 90s vampire movie polls, the top-grossing films received the top spots. Not so with this poll: Blade II did better at the box office than any of the movies ranking higher in the poll, and third-place winner Let the Right One In had the least amount of box office success.

It was actually available to stream from Netflix which was great and convenient but unfortunately a lot of it ended up being completely silent and the only reason I know what was said in certain parts was because of the subtitles. I found LROI fairly disturbing

The event is to promote the band & the movie/novel and will feature a performance by Crush, a burlesque dancer (Shelby”Belfast” Jones) and DJ Satoki.
